Alice Chiko: Notes from the North
Alice Chiko has many paintings in homes in Canada and the United States. She is noted for her floral water colours but paintings of the McLean Mill are very much a part of her portfolio. She has always sketched and used this skill to make some pictures for inclusion in her book on Telegraph Creek:
Notes From The North
In 1951, novice teachers Alice Chiko and and her good friend Leta Camozzi set out to teach their first classes in the remote northern village of Telegraph Creek, British Columbia.
Notes From The North tells their story through a series of family letters describing environmental trials and tribulations, and a coming of age while far from home.
The book is illustrated with 1950s photos of the Telegraph Creek adventure, along with several of Alice's pencil sketches created when she revisited her Telegraph Creek friends almost 50 years later.
Softcover. 109 pages. $20.00
